What’s new in PeopleSoft 9.1 Inventory? Oracle has delivered several enhancements in PeopleSoft Enterprise release 9.1 Inventory. These enhancements touch several functional areas, including: Item Maintenance, Fulfillment, Return to Vendor, Delivery Management, Freight Management, and Inter-Unit Transfer Visibility.
One enhancement, in particular, that caught my eye was the ability to create configurable Item templates to streamline the item set up process. During my fifteen years of implementing Inventory and Purchasing I’ve seen varied needs, from client to client, when it comes to setting up new items. This new functionality allows you to create multiple templates and, for each one of those different templates, identify the fields available for the user to populate and any default values you want populated by the system. You have the flexibility to create templates based on your company’s needs.
For instance, if when setting up finished goods items you populate volume and weight fields but don’t use these fields for raw materials then you can configure the templates to display those fields in the finished goods template and not the raw materials template. In that same example, if you use item family to distinguish between finished goods, raw materials, and MRO items, you can configure the template to default in the appropriate item family value based on the type of item being defined. This is one example of new Inventory functionality delivered in 9.1 that may help you streamline inventory related processes.
Will these enhancements add value to your inventory operations? Comment and let me know what you think.

Jim,
Have you implemented Maintenance Management? What if any new enhancements to it are in 9.1?
Thx
